Wilson Health Practitioner, Author Developing Empowerment Workshop For Women and Young Girls

Our workshops will empower young ladies to overcome difficult circumstances

" 33% of adolescents in America are victim to sexual, physical, verbal, or emotional dating abuse."

— The NO MORE Project. "Dating Abuse Statistics." Accessed April 22, 2014."

Wilson, NC
—Wilson resident Dr. Tiffany D. Tyson is debuting the first book in a new book series called Urban Princess Empowerment Series.

"I have a passion for helping young women navigate the complex and sometimes brutal world of adolescence. These ladies face things such as dissatisfaction with body image, bullying and even physical abuse by significant others,” Tyson said.

Teenagers face a complicated, ever-changing world. Just as their bodies mature, so do their thoughts, attitudes, and emotions. The process is not always easy. Pressure from peers, home life, and increasing responsibilities can make this a challenging period in anyone’s life.

In her book Urban Princess, Dr. Tyson introduced readers to a cast of complex teenagers and young adults. She now expounds on each of these characters as she begins the Urban Princess Empowerment Series with her new book, The Power of Choice. In this first book of the series, Tyson puts her characters into situations adolescents face every day, from bullying and relationships to substance abuse, self-esteem, and that holy grail of teenage society- popularity.

The Young Ladies Empowerment Series (YLES) workshop is where elements of the book will be discussed in an interactive style. YLES teaches teenage and young adult ladies to be well-rounded individuals by stressing community, empowerment over life stressors, self-esteem, and confidence to achieve their goals. The Workshop will be held at Rocky Mount Middle School from 10am – 4pm on February 20, 2016. The one-day event includes three empowering sessions, comedy, lunch, gift bags, and photo opportunities with Comedian, Les Long, Dr. Tyson and panel guests.
