Wilson Health Practitioner, Author Held Fun Empowerment Workshop For Women and Young Girls

Our fun-filled workshop sessions empowered ladies and young girls to overcome difficult circumstances.

Rocky Mount, NC —Dr. Tiffany D. Tyson, CEO of Tyson Multimedia held her first Urban Princess Young Ladies Empowerment Series (YLES) Workshop in February.

Scholarships for the YLES came from a variety of community partners from the Rocky Mount and Wilson area including My Sister’s House, Boys and Girls Club of Rocky Mount, The SPOT, Gloria Baptist Church, Reid Street Community Center and the Nash County Department of Social Services. “I am very appreciate of our community partners who found young ladies and women deserving of scholarships to attend the workshop,” said Dr. Tyson. These scholarships were made possible by sponsors like OIC of Rocky Mount and others who are committed to making a difference in the Rocky Mount and Wilson community.

Dr. Tyson’s second book, Urban Princess: The Power of Choice, tackles some tough issues that our young ladies deal with today; thus forming the themes presented at the workshop such as domestic violence, bullying and substance abuse. There was a nice mix of entertainment and comedy that made the heavy subjects easy to digest. Comedian Les Long filled the Rocky Mount Middle School Auditorium with laughter and the Envy-Us Steppers delighted the young ladies with electrifying dance moves. There was even an interactive part of the event where attendees were able to participate by joining Dr. Tyson in some of the latest line dances.

“This was just the kind of event young girls and women need,” said one participant. “It’s easier to hold the audience’s attention when they feel the type of genuine connection that comes from the power of the arts in their experience,” expressed Dr. Tyson.
